No matter how successful you become in life, you’ll always be an underdog in something.
And the most real part of being an underdog is simple: realizing that you can be greater than you are now - you just have to work for it!
What about the things we aren’t good at?
Is it a bad thing?
What will people think?
Is it normal?
And to all of those questions, DONT WORRY ABOUT IT! You are YOU and will always be YOU! So find what you love and run with it.
Like for me, I know for a fact that I was not built for a little thing called manual labor. When it comes to fixing a leak, planting trees, hanging a picture or changing a light bulb… I know a guy.
Maybe what you’re good at is very different than everyone else… that is okay! Don’t feel isolated or outcasted... Feel EMPOWERED! That just means it would be easier for you to get a job in that field because you have a gift that not a lot of other people have. But, when it comes to what you’re good and bad at, don’t feel down because you’re bad at something.
When I was younger and even now, I HATE playing sports. I know I’m bad at it and I have no desire to play.. or even watch! No offense to you football fans, but if I agree to watch a game, it's under two conditions. One: if it involves good food and two: an awesome concert during the halftime show. And for an American male… that's not common. But, I’m self-aware and I know if something is flying in my general direction, I’m going to
A. Get hit in the face
B. Block it
It just isn’t for me. But I never once felt any shame or guilt when it came to the matter. Even if I was made fun of for having no athletic desires, I knew that I had strong abilities somewhere else.
My point is, don’t feel different because you don’t like what everyone else does. Don’t feel like you HAVE to agree with everyone around you or even feel like you owe someone an explanation. Do exactly what you’re passionate about and never let what you can’t do distract you from what you were MADE TO DO.
Don’t miss this, though: don’t give up at something because you’re bad at it. If you have a passion to play football and you aren’t good at it right now, put in the extra work and PRACTICE. If you care enough about it, you will succeed.
If you were made to write, write
If you were made to sing, sing.
If you were made to be in the military, train.
If you were made to be a lineman, work at it.
If you were made to ride a dirt bike, practice.
God gave you a passion and an ability, and whether you use it or not… It's up to you. Keep pursuing your passion and do it to the best of your ability! You can change the world with your gift. You just have to use it.
